May bought 2 concert tickets which cost $240 each for her parents. However, her parents could not go, so she sold the tickets to her friends. She got 10% profit for one ticket, 10% loss for another. Has she made any profit? Explain your answer. 2.) Uncle Wong bought 600 oranges for $500. Among them 25 are rotten, and the rest are sold at$2 each. Find the profit percent. 更新: 3.) A grocer bought 500kg of potatoes at $400. Among them, 10% were rotten. He sold the good ones at $1.8 per kg. What was the profit percent?

最佳解答:

1) Total amount May paid for the ticket = 2*240 = 480. Amount she sold at 10% profit = 240 * (1+10%) = 1.1*240 = 264. Amount she sold at 10% loss = 240*(1-10%) = 0.9*240 = 216. Total amount she got by selling these two tickets = 216 + 264 = 480. This is the same amount as she bought. Therefore, she did not make any profit. 2) Number of oranges he sold = 600 - 25 = 575 Amount he obtained by selling all of his oranges = 2 * 575 = 1150 So the profit he got = 1150 - 500 = 650 The percentage of his profit = (Profit) / (Buying price) * 100% = 650 / 500 * 100% = 130%. 3) Mass of potatoes the grocer sold = 500 * (1-10%) = 500*0.9 = 450 kg Amount he obtained by selling all of his/her potatoes = 450 * 1.8 = 810 So the profit he/she got = 810 - 400 = 410 The percentage of his/her profit = (Profit) / (Buying price) * 100% = 410 / 400 * 100% = 102.5%.
