Let amount of saving =S Let income = I and Let Expenditure = E Therefore, (1) E = I - S (2) E = 70%I, that is I = E/0.7 , substitute this result into (1), we get E = E/0.7 - S or S = E/0.7 - E = E(1/0.7 - 1) = E(1 - 0.7)/0.7 = E(0.3)/0.7 = 3E/7.
